Meet Medusa
This woman was at at least two of the three games versus the White Sox this past weekend. Needless to say, she has gone viral.
This is what I love and hate about the internet age. Some of you may remember Jen Sterger from a few years ago. If not, allow me to recap: at a Florida Sate college football game, the scantily clad Sterger was spotted in the stands by the TV crew, with the game announcer stating that “thousands of red-blooded teenage boys just applied to Florida State.” She went on the star in a spread in Playboy, had her fifteen minutes of fame, and just as fast, faded back into normality.
Now, our Medusa woman here (named so because of that awesome, awesome hair) is a bit of a cult celebrity herself. All one has to do is view the fan posts and threads at SB Nation’s Lone Star Ball and see that she is quite the celebrity in some circles. In fact, she has become a bit of a good luck charm — the Rangers are currently 4-1 with Medusa in the game day threads.
But, just like Sterger, she too will eventually fade away, and we will forget her.
The internet has given the possibility of everyone becoming a fifteen-minute celebrity. Just in the past few weeks, we’ve even had Susan Boyle, the Scottish contestant on Britain’s Got Talent.
I don’t know if the new American dream is to become famous, but it’s undeniable that some of these webgem viral celebrities are quite amusing.
Though, given the look on her face, I don’t think Medusa agrees…
Wow, that’s really…interesting. Quite the hair, but she seems kind of out of place
