What do Cliff Lee, Roy Halladay, John Danks, King Felix and Erik Bedard all have in common?
Well, besides each posting sub-4.00 ERA’s so far this season, they also have all fallen to the Texas Rangers. The only one left is Grienke, but let’s face it — that man is an alien and no one is able to score a win off him.
However, now, the Texas Rangers are 14-12 after posting a 10-inning 7-2 win over Seattle, which puts them a half game behind the AL West leading Mariners. The win, catapulted by a Jarrod Saltalamacchia grand slam in the top of the 10th, also makes it four W’s in a row for the Rangers, their first winning streak of any kind since the season opener series against Cleveland almost a month ago.
Sure, there are a lot of strikeouts. Hank Blalock, though getting a walk here and there, is still hacking away at everything. Chris Davis, though showing some killer defense at first, has 41 strikeouts in 26 games. But, there are also many bright spots on this team. The young Elvis Andrus has been amazing a third, making a great double-play combination with Ian Kinsler. Kinsler also has 9 homers on the season and well on his way to a 30-30 or even 40-40 year.
It’s starting to click. The team is starting to gel. And the adversaries are falling.
